The Hampshires ( A Short Poem by James J)

In the Hampshires a young boy rides his bike
The rickety spokes keep turning tire tread
On the pond a fowl paddles soft and slow
Raindrops ease down the withered clock tower

In the Hampshires an old man sits quite still
The crumbling stairs support his whisky cup
The barn hides rats in its dark wooden walls
The wind carries the scent of a deep rain

In the Hampshires an old dog lays restless
A velvet chair holds his dusty worn bones
On the sill a crow awaits its next meal
Echoes as soft as a whisper are heard

If Only ( A poem by James J )

If i could love you with every fiber of my being

If i could give you every ounce of my passion

If i could protect you with every cell in my body

Would it be enough?

If i showed you all of my scars

If i confessed all of my lies

If i unlocked all of my doors

would it be enough?

If i wrote you the most beautiful letter

If i sang you the prettiest song

If i painted you a masterpiece

would it be enough?

If i gave you everything

would i be enough?

Live for Life

We must seek experiences that change us

So that our souls may blossom

We must do our best to live

So that we may learn along the way

We must learn to love and accept

So that we may feel loved and accepted

We must stop looking at what divides us

So that we may find what unites us

We must see life as a journey

So that we may smile at the end of it

Sanctity ( A Poem By James J )

Your hands open like flowers

Your eyes flutter like the breeze

Your hair sways like the leaves

Your mouth moves like the tide

My heart is made of stone

My feet are rooted in the ground

My arms are bound by vines

My head is filled with mud

From the cracks in my heart flowers grow

From the roots in my feet the wind moves me

From the vines on my arms your leaves dance

From the tide of your lips the mud is washed away

Desires ( A Poem By James J )

i stand upon the edge of the earth

looking out upon infinity

my desires are to be free

but a soul bound by desires cannot be free

i scream but no sound is heard

for i am a ripple in the strumming of chords

a leaf floating in the winds of time

pushing me towards my destiny

beauty surrounds me as i open my eyes

my lungs are filled with the seduction of air

sunlight glimmers off this canvas of land

and spreads over this endless earth

beauty is but a flicker in the candle of life

it is eventually extinguished and replaced

darkness uncloaks itself and poses as fear

fear drives us to spill blood for beliefs

salvation is preached but not understood

for death does not require salvation

death only requires us in the end

but it is in death that we find beauty

the beauty of life is that it does not last forever

immortality would veil us in darkness

for a life lived bound by endless desires

is a life in which we would never be set free

Surrender ( A Poem By James J )

my fingertips trace the crease of your back

your hair falls down your shoulders in waves

you are a drug and i am an addict

i will overdose a thousand times and crave more

your lips are my escape

this world could burn in endless flames

ashes could fall and blanket the earth

i would still be lost in this heaven with you

my hands gently press against your chest

i feel the pounding of your heart in my palm

your fingers intertwine with mine

my lips kiss your neck as you breath me in

my walls have been turned to glass

you have shattered every last one of them

the floor is filled with an endless reflection

my surrender to you is absolute
